AMP and PWA (A recipe for Mobility success in 2018)

There are all the more reasons to believe that PWAs and AMPs will soon be the mainstream technology for mobile commerce with endless possibilities in which they will get adopted. As we speak, Aliexpress, Guardian, eBay, and Amazon have already implemented it. Thus, we believe that a combination of AMP and PWA will replace mobile websites in the near future.

However, for small businesses and start-ups, the most reliable part of the business will be responsive web designs that they can continue doing their business and adapt to these new technologies with time as they progress and become stable enough to move their stores on them.

With the advent of Mobility, we are seeing a greater penetration of mobile websites and mobile applications. It is an understatement to say that “Mobility is the Future” for the world.

Having said that, current mobile websites and mobile applications though, are mobile friendly and responsive, they are ill-equipped to deal with large user data and rapidly changing user evolution that requires an instant connection for better conversation and purchasing. Most experts agree with the fact that, there is a gap in the technology that prevents faster user conversation and engagement.

However, the technology landscape is changing rapidly. It has two new weapons in its arsenal AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and PWA (Progressive Web Apps) that has the power and capability to rapidly improve user experience on mobile devices.

How do AMPs work?

The AMP is nothing but a faster version of your mobile website which takes a fraction of a second to load your home page. It is supported by Google and being implemented by big shots like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and with more than 5,000 developers working on GitHub to perfect it.

How PWA works?

The Progressive Web App is a modern website that has similarities with a mobile application. Think of it as an app on steroids that loads instantly with full functionalities of the web page. It has a pre-defined structure where it is coded between Application, Shell, and Content with JavaScript, HTML5 and PHP scripts.

Why use AMP and PWA?

Both AMP and PWA are open source technologies. Moreover, AMP is being prioritized by Google with a lightning bolt logo. (Show AMP Logo) Whenever as the user will see this icon they would recognize the page as mobile friendly and will be drawn to click it due to its proximity. This means any page, product or item coded with AMP will get greater SEO benefits compared to pages that don’t. The coding that allows AMP lightning fast loading also limits its functionalities. Here is where PWA’s will come in the picture. The PWAs will allow users immersive and application experience that even works offline.

With AMPs and PWAs businesses can be ensured with faster searchability in all search engines by users, user’s trust with bolt logo and ease of use with all the functionalities of mobile applications and faster content loading. All these changes will translate into greater conversations and conversions increasing both Sales revenue and profits for the business.
